Google Glass is Back

Google Glass 01

Despite being banned from many establishments across the globe, Google is still holding out hope for Google Glass, one of the world’s first augmented reality devices. In fact, they are about to release a new version of the glasses that will cost $999. That is quite expensive but considering that the original version was $500 more than that, it’s a bit better price.

The newer, more advanced Google Glass will be promoted to business clients for enterprise uses. Compared to the first version it’s improved a lot. There is a new, more powerful processor; a better camera and a USB-C port to charge it up. It also now runs on Android and is made of a better frame classified as a “safety frame.” However, it’s basically the same idea as the original. Why reinvent the wheel, right?

The main difference is the marketing. Before, Google wanted glass to be for everyone. However, it turns out that restaurant patrons, gym goers, and basically anyone out in public doesn’t like the idea of people who could be secretly recording them from behind their glasses. It’s not all that surprising, though what people don’t realize is that people could be recording you with their smartphone and you wouldn’t know it either, though it would be a little harder to hide. Anyways, for this reason, this augmented reality product is being promoted as a professional tool for people in areas like surgery, manufacturing professionals and other industries where augmented reality can have a transformative effect.

According to Google, companies can save time and money by using Google Glass, and they claim that some businesses already have. How could augmented reality glasses help your business? There are probably a lot of applications that haven’t even been thought of yet…
