Growing up, she spent a lot of time reading, writing stories, and playing about on computers. “I was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in a small town. I engaged in certain activities quite freely but was somewhat reserved. Throughout my teenage years, I yearned for new experiences, observing others having fun and wanting the same enjoyment for myself. Consequently, I moved to LA and ventured into the world of adult film,” she said in an interview with Adult DVD Talk in April 2014.
Chanell Heart has a reputation for being outgoing and personable even back in high school. As she reflected on her high school years in an August 2014 interview with Fleshbot, she said, “I was incredibly laid-back and associated with various groups of friends rather than sticking to one clique, as is common among teenagers. I made friends with whoever sat next to me. When it came to dating, I was drawn to intelligent guys who could assist me with homework and share knowledge. I was also intrigued by attractive individuals from whom I could learn.”
After finishing high school, Chanell Heart went on to earn a degree in early childhood education and development. She worked as a retail manager for a year and a half before realising that teaching wasn’t her calling. “After high school, I enrolled in college to study Early Education and Childhood Development,” she told Adult DVD Talk, “but I came to the realisation that becoming a teacher wasn’t my ultimate goal.” She then went on to explain that she had worked in retail management for a while.
She put her studies in early childhood development on hold to work as a retail manager for a year and a half. But she quickly realised that teaching wasn’t the career she should pursue. She said with a chuckle that she was relieved to have abandoned that path because she didn’t think it was worth the effort. She is in the process of learning about herself and figuring out what she wants out of life. When she does go back to school, she plans to give it her all.
Fascinated by the autonomy that the adult film industry afforded its female performers, which led her to pursue a career in the field. As she told XBIZ News in an interview that same September, “I felt that porn offered me a chance to start over because of the sense of freedom it provided for women. It was empowering and allowed for self-employment. You have control over your own career, and on top of that, I’m young, attractive, and enjoy sex!”
Chanell Heart wanted to break into the entertainment business, so she did some digging and reached out to an industry colleague, Misty Stone. She confessed her desire to come to Los Angeles to shoot porn but her apprehension about the profession, expressing both her adoration as a fan and her curiosity about it. Misty Stone, ever the encouraging and helpful friend, provided sound counsel, and the two have been close ever since. That’s when I decided to do my own research. Misty Stone is actually my mentor, and we live together.”
