Oculus Quest: New All-In-One Gaming System
Oculus has been one of the top producers of virtual reality headsets since the start, and now they have released their own no-wires gaming system for virtual reality. The Oculus Quest comes with a headset and controllers that are fully wireless. It’s designed for fully immersive gaming that allows you to jump, crouch and making big sweeping motions without getting all tangled up. With no wires, the headset is slightly less powerful than some of its wired competitors, but the differences are hardly noticeable. Even though the device has not even been released to consumers yet there are already 50 games that work with the system which is supposed to be released at some time in 2019. The price of the headset is just $399 which falls in the mid-range of the devices out at the moment.
Luckily, the untethered headset some safety features built in so that you don’t wander too far from your original location. This headset can track up to 4,000 square feet around you so you don’t accidentally wander into traffic or jump full speed straight into the nearest wall. The company hasn’t released any specifics about the product yet and that includes the exact resolution, other technological specifications and even the exact release date, but if their other products are anything to go by you know it will be good and more than sufficient to deliver a great gaming experience. One other mystery factor is the battery life. At public demos, testers report that assistants were switching out devices to recharge after 4-5 uses to make sure the battery was at the best range possible, but it was hard for testers to say how long the battery would last for in an uncontrolled environment.
